5 Essential Items to Help You Travel Like a Pro
Traveling is one of the most fun things we can do in our lives. We meet new people, experience alienated cultures, try mouth-watering cuisines, and, in short, make life-long memories.
Consider this: would you go on a date without bringing a bouquet? Or appear in an interview without wearing a nice suit? No, right? Similarly, why would you want to go on a trip without ticking all the right boxes first?
I’m talking about some really important travel essentials that’ll take your trip to the next level. From having gadgets that keep you secure to items that keep you connected to your loved ones, my travel experience has taught me a lot about some must-have travel gadgets.
Here, I’ll share my shortlisted travel essentials and explain how important they can be for your trip, and help you travel like a pro.
So, let’s start:
A Reliable Internet Connection
An active internet connection is likely the most important thing to have with you, especially when you’re traveling to a new destination.
From keeping you in touch with your loved ones to helping you navigate your way around new towns and cities, a swift connection is extremely helpful when you’re traveling.
Well, not just this, you’ll also need it to stream your favorite shows and post captivating and breathtaking photos on social media platforms.
That said, internet options are limitless. You can depend on mobile data or take help from a hotspot device. Public WiFi is another option, but I don’t prefer it, since it’s an open network and can be unsafe.
My go-to option is the millions of secure and high-speed hotspot zones offered by my internet service provider (ISP), Spectrum. I’ve subscribed to one of its high-speed internet plans, which allows me to access its millions of nationwide hotspot zones at no additional cost. Plus, I can always rely on Spectrum customer service to help me locate the nearest hotspot zone, in case I cannot find one myself.
A Portable Power Station
A portable power station is the powerhouse that you’ll need for multiple purposes. And, I believe that you can never go wrong with it.
Imagine you’re traveling by car and it needs to be jump-started. And, if you have this powerhouse by your side, you can simply jump-start your car using it and resume your journey within minutes. Just like that, you can also light up your campsite with a portable power station.
Additionally, most power stations can charge all your electronic devices on the go. And, though I haven’t bought the exact same power station, I’ve seen numerous that charge on solar energy. So, as I said above, you cannot go wrong with a power station, and it’s a must-have on every trip.
A Self-Cleaning Water Bottle
I’ve never been a health-conscious person. However, a bad diarrhea that ruined my week-long trip prompted me to buy a self-cleaning water bottle. And ever since then, it’s one of the first things I put in my backpack when I’m about to go on a trip.
One of the best things about a self-cleaning water bottle is how quickly it purifies contaminated water. Quality bottles can kill harmful bacteria in water within minutes, and make it potable.
This gadget is particularly helpful on a hike or trek, or when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere with a potable water source.
Travel Insurance
As much as traveling is fun and adventurous, it can be equally dangerous sometimes. You can miss your flight, lose your luggage, or find yourself a little under the weather. And, while it’s best to be careful of your surroundings when you’re traveling, buying insurance is a smart move.
Many companies offer single-trip travel insurance. You may also find some offering an affordable travel insurance package, but the point is, never travel without it.
From covering your tickets for delayed or cancelled flights to bearing your medical expenses and reimbursing you for stolen items, travel insurance can have your back in times of need.
Travel Apps
In my experience, most travel apps are inconvenient. However, there are two apps, specifically, that I believe are a game-changer.
The first one is HipCamp, which helps you find a secure campsite. Be it public parks, recreational vehicles (RVs) parks, private land, and more, you can find all the available campsite spots on HipCamp.
The second app is The Outbound Collective. It’s a public-sourced platform where millions of people have shared their experiences about different places. Whenever I’m passing by a town or a city, I always read reviews about it and see whether there’s any destination worth visiting.
So, these are the five essential items that can help you travel like a pro. However, before I wind up, below are some more items that you might want to keep with you when traveling:
- Spare Batteries – It’s best to keep spare batteries for your electronic devices, such as laptops, cameras, drones, etc.
- A Tracking Device – Tracking devices like Apple Tags can keep you informed about your belongings and offer peace of mind.
- A Multi-Purpose Knife – It can be a handy tool, especially when you’re hiking, trekking, or exploring the wilderness.
